Hi all!
New member checking in. My name is Finn Hermansen. Born 1965. Had my first Super Bol'dor new in 1985. Last year I got my hands on a 1983. Started restomod last winter and got it "stage one finished" till last spring. Ridden 3000 km on it during the season. Now I've started "stage two". The ambitions are a 100% finished "as new" bike till the coming spring.
My mods are 2006 CBR1000RR front fork and 1100XX swing arm, Öhlins, Mikuni 36 RS, Motogadget M-unit Blue, Corbin Gunfighter ++. All in all inspired by the fabulous Evolution of Darren Beggs. I have named it CB11XXFRR Super Bast'ard..
Now I'm working ao a total motor rebuild. Frame will be blasted and powder coated. The motor vapor jetted and Cerakote'd. Looking forward to attending this forum. Thanks to all of you who have contributed to tons of information which is available here! |

Welcome to the site, Finn.
Nice looking bike although that pic make me think about getting out the cold weather riding gear. |

Hey Finn! Welcome to the CB-F addiction site! You have quite a list of nicely done mods on your bike. Cool that you were inspired by Petrat's (Darren) Evolution. I had the pleasure of seeing that bike and meeting Darren for the first time at one of the legendary North East rides. It was the spring ride of 2012 in Hornell, NY.
Also cool that you had an F bike new back in the 80's and then had to have another one later in life. Same story for me, I bought a new '80 CB750F (black) but only had it for 3 years before having to sell it. I swore I would own another one, so, 24 years later, a beautiful, turn key '83 CB1100F was available from an old friend. I bought it in November of 2007 and started riding again after a very long layoff in April of 2008. 65K kms later, I am still riding her and it still looks like a new bike.
Here is a pic of Petrat and his Evolution back in May of 2012.
Cheers!

Hi Chris, and many thanks 😊
Yes, after having my dream bike when I was 20, I kept missing it for years. I got in contact with the present owner. He sent me pictures of the bike. Still in almost mint condition. But he won't sell it😔
But this one I have now, is my baby for years to come. Thanks for the picture. Didn't realize it's so far back in time since Darren did that marvelous mod. I'm going to paint my bike over this winter. Same scheme as Darrens. I just love those colors..
Got any pictures of yours?

Ah yes .... the rains of the North East rides .... bike was barely turned off before I went into the hotel room grabbed the garbage pail with some warm water and started to wipe the bike down with a hand towel. I think that was the same ride that a bolt on my shifter side rear sets went bye bye and a guy in the middle of nowhere came to my rescue. Can't believe that was the first time we met Chris, along with Uncle Bobby .... |

Yes Darren, I remember that ride well. My (and Bob's) first N.E. ride. The only other riders present I had previously met were, Swift Nick and Don (Lakota).
I'm sure we have had more N.E. rides with a rain day or two than a completely dry one.
Take Care, hope to see you next year!
Chris
ps. One more sunny warm weekend here in the London area. Last riding for 2020. |
