Hi guys,
Just joined....
another biker told me about this site (while having new tyres fitted today).
I'm interested in tracing my first twin cam CB900FA, which i SOLD sometime around 1997
I actually owned her for approx 16 years, & wondered if she's still in circulation or even her current owner maybe a member ?
UK reg no is *WY 900W.
She was last seen in excellent condition as a fairly std looking Black CB900FA with a modified black Harris Works collection 4-1, which went to live somewhere in North Notts/South Yorkshire area.
My 16 year ownership with this bike developed into a full blown 750/900/RSC1123 obsession,
terminating in CB750FB,CB900FA, CB900FB, CB900F (Spencer rep) & a modded RSC1123/CB1100R replica !
I've been on the wagon (with modern stuff) for the last 10+ years, but fear I may be catching it ALL over again !

Hi,
Nice one...I did see this one a while back,
I'm a very patient man, hence I'm looking out for THE ONE
OR a decent 1100F or 1100R !
Failing that... if HONDA put that new 1100R into production !
10+ years ago I looked long & hard into the darkness,
as it's often a fine line between spending ALL the spare time spannering/restoring that you have, OR spending the time to HAVE a LIFE
i.e.... get out & RIDE..... AND/OR spend quality time with the famliy !
I don't regret anything, as I've since been ALL round Europe many times
(with my other half who also rides) on ZZR11, CBR1000RR & 1050ST & clocked up some incredible mileages & been to some FANTASTIC places.
Just that like most peeps my age....you sometimes reawaken the LUST for what you once had.....

Daz,
If that was you in National tyres in Barnsley I guess I have you to thank for being on here !
I'll need to have a good think....& go hunting (in the loft ?) for pics of my old Honda's hence it may well take some time....
Probably be quicker to decoke , gas flow & lap in all 16 valves in on a twin cam !
I.e. approx 60-100 hours !
Cheers, Neil.

Hi greenthrees,
After viewing pics of your bikes I can see why you are trying to locate them. I've got a 1980 CB900FA, black, just like yours. See pics:
Best of luck

Foxj,
Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiicee !
Very standard, even the standard garage door sized rear guard.
I also liked to drop the fork leg clip ons under the top yoke, for that flatter racing crouch ?
The forks look dropped thro the yokes also, is that for lower ride height with std shocks n forks or are they GL1100 fork legs ?
I always liked to jack mine up front & rear for better ground clearance, with Marzocchi, Koni or S&W shocks, which meant that I always had to preload my front ends quite a bit, or use S&W Pro springs.
For the first 5 years (& 25k miles) I actually had 10 x 10p bandit tokens sat atop each fork leg spring ! |

Hi Yes the forks are standard with 1inch spacer. The lowered clip ons work very well if you have long arms like I have. Bike has done 30k. Not really mint ,tank needs re-painting, Motor could do with re-silvering , that will have to wait until it needs to come out. Very well sorted out though thanks to this site. Any luck tracing yours greenthrees? Foxyj. |

Foxyj,
Not spotted any of them yet,
though I did spot my original CB900F SWY 900W a couple of years back going the opposite direction, unfortunately I was in traffic driving a car
However it now shows as untaxed, according to the DVLA website, (it ran out in Aug 2007).
Must be the first time it's been untaxed since new in March 1981
My old CB750F PHE511X & CB900FB PCF138X, both register as still taxed till 2009.
In case any peeps are curious about their old bikes see;

As you are in the Uk get the latest Practical sports bike magazine, they have a new column there where readers can send in photos of their long lost bikes where they will post a photo for you
You never know the current owner may be a reader

Still looking for the one guys, but shock horror after chasing a few others, i finally gave in & picked up a CB900FZ basket case, which im further dismantling before i start a long rebuild!
I do have other lil Hondas & quick Tumpies to play with in the meantime
Hence am also on the look out for a few UK FZ & FA bits, like a Black tank & tail
With my OCD the FZ may well end up looking like my FA above or the orange & black US version if i have to paint it whan im finally done |

Am still looking for SWY900W in the pic above if anyone knows where its stashed in the UK, last log book changed 2012 ?
In the meantime i have an FZ, FA & FB to restore, as well as my 82 Supersport I think the FA will end up as an 1100RA Aus replica or an RB if i use an FD fairing ? |
