"MR. CHUCK BERRY , The chairman of the board" announces Bill Graham. What a showman, what an influence he had on music-Rock and roll specifically, There are so many names to mention. Jerry lee Lewis with his black left and white right hands, Chuck, Little Richard, Fats Domino, BB King who the stones say was one of their great influences.
It was an exciting time to be a music buff. I hung around KDIA on the radio,a R&B station on the edge of the bay in Oakland. Rock and rockabilly was rapidly growing out of the 12 bar blues.
Then the acid rock surge. Even the led Zeppelin was a blues band and no one can deny the stones were/are too.
But for me I gotta go along with Bob. "Today's music ain't got the same soul"
Godspeed Mr. Chuck Berry, You are and shall remain a legend. |
