Bought an Innovate MTX A/F ratio gage to play with for adjusting a set of CR's. Has anyone found a clean way to mount one? Most everything I see is for cars. I'm thinking maybe mount to the handlebars. May eventually remove once I get the carbs tuned but would like a neat setup while I'm using it. No masking tape or baler twine. Anyone seen anything out there?

Maybe I can help you come up with something. I will need to buy one of these for a turbo bike I am building. Would be willing to help you with a nice solution, in exchange for right of first refusal and a good deal on your used gauge.

Adapt a gauge pod to the bar?

I made sheet metal cover to go in place of the factory plastic cover where the key is. I painted it black to blend in. It could have been more elaborate if I had a bit more fab skill, but for temporary use, it's ok. After I got the carbs dialed in, I'll put the factory cover back on. I also put a whole in it for a second gauge right away.

If I keep it, I should add to it a bit to make it look a bit cleaner.

I'll post a picture later.

I just looked on my phone, and I had a picture from last year showing it.

See attached.

If it stays permanently on the bike, I'll probably get one of those pod mounts that was shown earlier in the thread and adapt it to mount to the bar. I didn't want to spend any money on it until I knew it would work. And know that it's on and working, I don't think much of it, but I really should do something a bit nicer.

I hadn't thought about selling it. I have an 1100f I'll probably use it on next. Innovate does have a more expensive model that logs and accepts TPS and RPM inputs, but that's down the road a ways. I would like to hear any ideas you might have for mounting. I wouldn't want to promise you anything and not deliver.

That's what I'm thinking about, if it only mounted to the bars. I may get one to see how I can figure out how to mount it.

I ran across your post with the pics. That's what made me buy this new toy. I have to mount my Hindle pipe so I can find a good spot for the sensor, hopefully somewhere near where you mounted yours. It looks like a good spot. I picked a SS bung from fleabay. I'm going to get one of our guys at work to tig it on. I'd just have a big mess.

Thanks for the input guys. It's the wrong time of year to be working on a bike but it rains almost every day so I wouldn't be riding much anyway.

I put my AFR meter in this and used a GoPro mount I had laying around to put on the handlebar.

I don''t run it all time, just when I was tuning the carbs.

I just ordered one of those pod cups yesterday. I figured I should make a better mount.

As for the Hindle, attached is where I mounted mine. Be careful that Hindle steel is very thin which makes welding it tricky.

Looks like it's gonna be a little tight for the sensor down there with my center stand installed?

Thanks for the pic.

You can put the bung anywhere, plenty of cable but some locations are better than others. This is test setup I used (the bung was on the silencer when it came to me):

I don't have a center stand but I think it would be fine anywhere on the right side of the collector or silencer.

What did you end up with? Ive been playing with this idea for quite a while. Its bubbled its way back to the top since the dyno testing showed how rich it actually was.

I bought the cup from Glowshift. I'm having a hard time figuring out where to mount it on my 750F. I'm thinking to the left of the speedo using the clutch cable holder that attaches to the top of the left fork tube. I was originally thinking the handlebars but it needs to be lower at the same height as the speedo/tach to look right. Not sure what you would do on an 1100F. I had a guy at work weld the bung on my Hindle, same place as Brett's. There's actually a fair amount of room between the center stand and swing arm. I just need to mount the cup and hook it all up. I'm off next week, hope to complete it then. I have to install my new fuse block too, I plan to use the extra fuse to power the MTX (thanks to Smicks).

The 1100f tuning is complete, and with the Supertrapp (having an O2 bung) it was rich high and low a bit lean in the middle the using 120 MJ, 230 MAJ, YY8 jet needles, 70 SJ (carbs came with this setup).

I tried to get everything in 12-13 range using the AFR meter and ended up changing to a 115 MJ and 60 SJ. Switched over to the Kerker that goes on the bike. After switching exhausts it was off a bit just off idle so I went up 1/2 turn on the slow air jet and all is good.

The setup is now moving to my 985 with a set of new Dell Orto carbs (built in the 1981 but never installed until now). Having done the CR33s and seeing the AFR move when a change was made should allow quicker setup.

Your 1100F setup is almost identical to mine, except I'm at like 58 on the pilot and 122 on the main with the same MAJ and needle. I'm just about right at idle at like 13ish, but WFO with the 128 mains, I was like 10 and belching black smoke like a train. Cruise on the needle is 13-14, just about perfect, but cruise can be super lean without an issue, as lean as 17:1 because there isn't much load. Thats how you get 45 mpg. I get 35 typically.

Getting real time information from an AFR meter would be awesome.
