Anyone here actually disassemble a Comstar?? The bolts were no problem but the rivets are eating my lunch. The few heads I've gotten off I had to rip them from the base metal. Even with the heads off it will not come apart. I saw an old post where melchiro said he did it.
I guess I should have sent it to Tom....too late now. |

I drilled the aluminum rivet head ONLY, so that there was not much material left. Started with a small drill then went bigger and bigger until there was not much left of the head. Then I punched the rest out using a skinny bolt, slightly smaller than the rivet..
After bolting up, I ended up with a 18"x 2.5" Comstar for a shaft drive CX/GL hub...
