I am a new CB1100F owner trying to bring back a bike that's been sitting in a garage for over 20 years. The headers are rusty and there was a good sized hole in #2 pipe which a local magician has repaired. He said the inner pipe came loose and rattled enough against the outer one to wear a hole about the size of a thumb in the outer. The mufflers are showing their age but no rot. I have experimented with VHT Caliper paint in gloss black and it looks pretty good.
Any other recommendations to refinish the headers?
Thanks,
Cliff. |

The caliper paint is rated to 900f, that should cover it for the headers.Cliff. |

Ya, those pipes will easly burn off 900 degree paint. Even the 2000 degree paint doesn't hold up that well. |

I guess I'll find out. At least it will be baked on. Cliff. |
