Travels continue. We are in San Antonio right now, but recently spent a few days in Burbank, Ca. Had a chance to meet up for lunch with our buddy Genesound. No pictures, but had a nice lunch, and put a face to the name.
The other day, we traveled up to New Braunfels, and met up with Jebbysan, for a session of beers in the garage. He has a cool CBX, a Corvette, and several other customer projects in progress!
Have arranged to meet up with Ronnies wife Janet, next week, over in the Houston area. Pics to follow. |
Great to meet you and Margaret......thanks for the Yuengling! Send your carbs when you are ready!

Currently in the Panhandle of Florida (Pensacola). Will move over to Destin/Fort Walton Beach area on Wed. Temps in the 70's, life doesn't suck!
Bike will come out of the truck in Destin, hope to get some riding done there, and work with a guy who's building a 900F to be donated to a Combat Veteran. Looking forward to that!

This has got to be the most honest sign for a thrift/vintage/estate store I have ever seen, I love it. |

Drove a part of the Blue Ridge Parkway today. Todays ride was in the truck, but this is now part of my motorcycle Bucket List!
Spectacular views, pictures do not do justice to the place! |

Rick, Back in July of 1982, I was riding my '80 CB750F and my buddy was on his '81 CB900F. We rode the Blue Ridge Parkway. The plan was to ride it from Tennessee up through VA, then home. We only made it about 40 miles past Asheville, NC
My buddy Steve thought he was Freddie Spencer, got into a blind decreasing radius turn, low sided and slid his bike into a large timber guard rail. Twisted up his front end beyond riding the bike anywhere. Not a great end to our trip. He was uninjured.
I would love to go down to that area again with my 11F. Hard to believe that was 41 years ago!!
Take Care!

I've ridden the Blue Ridge Parkway and the Skyline Drive more than once. It never disappoints. |

Brian, Thanks for the offer, but after the Spring Ride, my June will be occupied with getting ready for kids/Grandkids to visit at the Lake. BRP will have to be some other time.
In the meantime, we've been in Wytheville Va for the last three nights. Here in SW Va they have a series of roads they call the "Claw of the Dragon" (go to www.ClawoftheDragon.com), consisting of several loops of over 300 total miles of roads that are on par with the Tail. I drove a couple of the loops (Wytheville and Bland Loops) in my truck, since the bike is awaiting valve adjustment. The loops I've driven are excellent, technical, challenging, and best of all present beautiful scenery. On the Bland Loop (at the west end), we came to the Big Lookout Tourist stop.
The First pic is the lookout tower from ground level. It's 200 steps to the top, and worth every one!
Second pic is looking down from the tower:
Pics 3, 4, and 5 are a panorama (about 180 deg) of the view to the north from the Tower.
Planning a stop in Pottsville, Pa, where I hope to see our buddy Rick (FSter), and pick up some parts from him for a Summer Project. |

Stopped off in Pottsville (or the area, at least), and saw Rick and his wife. Had a very nice (too brief) visit, and invited them to come to the Lake this summer. Now in Bristol, Ct, and will press on from here back to the lake on Tuesday, for the formal start to another wonderful summer. It doesn't suck to be cliffiec! |

Rick
Was great to see you and your lovely wife Margret, my wife and I had a great time talking with both of you. Hope you enjoyed our beautiful NE PA scenery. My wife is now looking, via Google for things to see and do in Maine after talking with you about the lake. Hope to maybe get that way this summer. Have a safe trip.

Funny stuff, Gene!
Made it to SC today, and starting to look for a winter home in the area. Will likely end up winters in Arizona (between Phoenix and Tucson), though. |

Arizona or Nevada sounds OK. Lake Havasu City is pretty fun if you like power boats! https://upstatelakelife.com/lake-living/ |

Rick, have a safe trip back to your winter home. Cool seeing the moose stroll by! Do you have to winterize your place in Maine?
Drain the plumbing, shut off the main breaker and such?
Are you on a well there?
We closed up our cottage on Sept. 15. We have a plumber drop by to winterize the water system, then the power is shut off at the breaker box.
Safe travels and sure hope to see you in the Spring!

Yeah, plumbing gets treated with RV Antifreeze, and the main breaker is open for the winter. Boat is shrink wrapped and in storage, dock and boat lift out of the lake, truck and wifes car in storage, as well as 2 bikes put up for the winter... All good in Az now, looking forward to Ice-out 2025, and definitely going to try to make at least one ride next year! |
