Eric has done a lot of nice mods to the bike and he also has a knack for making them look even better than they were new. I call him my "styling consultant" and always bounce ideas off of him when I'm doing a build. If I take his advice, they always end up looking nicer.

Its a good looking bike, about what I envisioned for the 900 im building, the 18inch front wheel caught my attention, if I don't put 1100 rims on it

I have a question for anyone on the 19" rim. If the 18 is better Honda must have known this. Why did they use the 19"? Possibly to make the ride smoother?

Also, are the tire selections better or easier with an 18" rim?

thats a good question, with the exception of a very few super bikes from the era, they all used 19s (Kawasaki Z1Rs being an exception) then in 84, everything seemed to go to 16s

Less gyroscopic effect with shorter tires result in easier cornering and a lower center of gravity.

thanks for the kind words Tom!

the 18" front wheel definately made a difference in corners, the turn in seemed quicker, easier, lighter.

I have some updating to do on my build thread. many new things since I last posted on it including the 985 motor!!!

-Eric.

thanks man!
it is an 1100 chaingaurd that I cut up, added some sheet metal to make the shapes, bondo'ed and painted. it was pretty rusted out and I wasn't a fan of the chrome look or the shape of it. I'll get some close up pics soon.
