Jim,
Morning.
"Item location: Henan, China"
Do you want to risk putting CHINESE bearings in a High Performance motor??
To ME--same thing as using Chinese braking components. A NON STARTER for me.
Just my 0.02c
Best to you |

Since there are no other options and I have a few lightened cranks that have a scored journal. I would like to try and save them. As far as Chinese parts go. Most everything you buy now days has many parts made from China. Shoot most all John Deere tractors are now made there and Bridgeport milling machines. I am now into chainsaws for a hobby. I recently bought a Husqvarna 372XP clone just to see for myself. $311.00 delivered and it runs like a scalded ape.
We live in a Global economy. Tha'ts just the cold hard facts.
I plan to buy a set of the stock size and see how they do in a test motor. If they hold up? Then I'll have a go at the oversized ones and see if I can save the cranks I have?
I was just curious if someone has been there already.
Peace, Jim |

There will come a day when the crank bearings may not be available from Honda so would be nice to find an alternative before that happens
Keep us updated with your findings Jim

It's already happened with some of the early Honda car models. A lot of those bearings were unique sizes and once stock was exhausted that was it.
Don't necessarily think that OE Honda are that great either. i had the experience recently of sorting through a pile of used/low hours RC30 shells to assemble a bottom end that was usable. Most had the colour codes missing so I made up a measuring jig to identify the thickness grades. It worked well and the job got done to my satisfaction. BUT i had the interesting experience of finding two new and unused green coded shells, one of which was at the thick end of the range - and the other at the thin end of the range.
It happens. Be aware. Measure where you can. |
