Cool bike with lots of modern features such as single sided swingarm, modern suspension, huge brake rotors, nice exhaust, etc. But like all of the other Honda concept bikes we've seen in the past few years, I give it a snowball's chance in hell that it will ever go to production. Even if it does, will it ever make it to the states? If this isn't castrated like the CB1100 that came out several years ago, it would probably sell better.

Tom, I think it's got a very good chance of making it to the States as it's based on a model that's available already in the US (CB1000R Neo-Sport Cafe)
and there's existing competition Kawasaki's Z900RS and Suzuki's Katana. and another reason, hopefully when all this Corona-Virus thing is sorted
i'll be emigrating to Akron OH from the UK and I need this bike!!!

So roughly 120+ hp if they don't mess with the motor or de-tune it...not bad and certainly quicker than a stock 1100F. If they already have tooling for most of the components, then they should do it. If it was priced in the same ballpark as the CB1100, it might sell.

It’s 140+ hp.....same as cb1000r, still 20 hp lower than the bmw s1000r and euro competition

Tom's referral to 120 HP, is rear wheel dyno HP numbers, which most magazine dyno numbers I've seen on the current 2018/2019 CB1000R have been on the 121/122 rear wheel HP numbers.
Disclaimer I'm using Dynojet Dyno numbers, as there are more of them in the field than any other brand dyno.

That said, while we all get stuck on big Horsepower claims and numbers, I know how much time and money, it takes to get a 900/1100 F based bike to that level. Very Happy

I also know, that at my age and my riding now limited to just street riding for fun, I've had as much fun on a 85 HP motorcycle as I have on a 185 HP motorcycle.

I'd love to have a new stock Honda with fuel injection, traction control, ride modes, modern ABS brakes, that "only " made around 120 Horsepower.

Biggest problem for me with the current CB1000R, was a severe case of "noassatall" with nothing behind the seat, and of course the obnoxious license plate holder, which of course can be easily fixed.

I've always said our F bikes, had the most beautiful, gorgeous lines of any motorcycle Honda ever made, which is why I've held on to mine all these years.

I think this F concept bike looks great, i wish it had mirrors, turn signals, license plate bracket, etc to signal it was "closer" to production than concept !!

It's all about numbers, in the old days there were only a couple of choices, now between sport bikes, touring bikes, cruisers, adventure bikes etc there's almost too many choices.

I for one hope that there's enough of "us" left for Honda to make this motorcycle !!!

And hurry up damn it, I'm tired of waiting 😊

personally, I like the version from the magazine cover with the Honda decal, rather than the new red Honda badge like the video prototype. My africa twin has the same red badge, but I prefer the decal..

Wasn’t trying to start a horsepower debate, that’s why I put a disclaimer 🙂

My only point was Honda claims crankshaft Horsepower not rear wheel horsepower.

I’ve seen similar rear wheel horsepower numbers I’ve referenced for the CB1000R on the same Dynojet dyno I’ve tuned my 1123F motor on.

And I’d be happy with that 🙂

I’d also be happy with a new F style bike with whatever Horsepower numbers you choose to believe 🙂

Agreed....... I used the 140 because that’s the number I assume the competition uses.....the euro naked liter bikes are 160+ ...again , I’m assuming crank hp as well.

What’s the feeling on the red Honda badge opposed to the decal ?

I think red badge F vs the standard black cb1000r, I’m not sure which I like better...

I personally think that new models are out the window In light of Covid, but we can dream...or buy a leftover cb1000r for peanuts....😈

Ron, were you saying your “f” hit that number on a similar dyno?

For what ever it's worth, I emailed honda powersports a suggestion to make the bike. I did read that there is room for it in their 2020 line up, although I like the "snowballs chance in hell" on that. Mcn' s review of the cb1000r was a good one, he mentions early on about the power not being up there with the current crop of super nakeds, but that it will "beat the pants off of" the other retro bikes available today. I would buy it. The only bad thing that could come of it would be having to choose between silver or black🙄

In answer to your question of "my F bike hitting a similar HP number on the dyno " ?

I've had a Wiseco piston motor with too much compression make 129 rear wheel HP, my current lower compression 1123 motor with cruzin image Pistons, " only" makes 123 rear wheel HP.

Like I said I'd be "happy" with a stock bike that made 120 HP or 126 HP Very Happy

As far as the Honda badge, I'd prefer the decal versus the badge Very Happy

And as far as the comment about there being room for the F concept bike in Honda's 2020 line up ?
Since we're already 3 months into 2020, I'd say 2021 or 2022 at best, but if we're dreaming might as well DREAM BIG !!!

But remember the motor is basically a reworked Fireblade engine from 2008-2018 so if they want to spice it up a little then I would say
they're only a set of cams and a map away from a crankshaft measured 160bhp which would put on a par with Yamaha's MT10 BMW's S1000R and ahead of the Katana

This has to be just a rendering, there are a lot of parts missing. No rear foot pegs, turn signals etc.

This prototype brought my back in to check things out! I scored a CB1100 and like it for a sidecar rig but it's a disappointment as a CB-F legacy. This new bike is the correct direction though!

Actually, it seems that there doesn't seem to be a need to wait, since this Japanese company builds a CB1100 kit that, imo, looks better than what Honda's showing. At least I think so- the site is a little confusing (even translated). Plus- they're all custom- doesn't look like they sell just the basic parts.

I think it is either trying to keep all the old blokes who had a boldor in the 80's alive, or a deliberately understressed engine for long and reliable engine life.
