I made a post a while back, searching for a CB1000C transmission. Got a PM from Rick (Fster) a little while later that he saw a 1000C posted on Craigslist, and asked if I was interested in it, what parts I'd want, and if I wanted him to go look at it. I told him yes, as well all the parts I'd take, my budget, and that he could take the rest to part out. He contacted the guy but of course with many of these ads, it seemed a bit sketchy (posted multiple locations), and the guy didn't respond for sometime (maybe weeks after). So Rick contacted me again and told me the guy FINALLY contacted him, and to see if I was still interested. I said certainly but of course for him to proceed with caution. He traveled 1.5 hrs each way with his son to go look at it, decided it was worthy, loaded it, and brought it back home with him. Rick reconfirmed the list of parts I wanted, and where I wanted it all shipped. I told him that I needed the head and crank sent to my engine guy in Tennessee, and the rest sent to my US Postal address at the Canadian / USA border. Less than a week goes by, and doesn't Rick already have the engine pulled, disassembled, and 3 tracking numbers for me. At this point he hasn't even asked for a deposit, all doing this in good faith. Once he gave me the final $ numbers for parts and shipping, I send it right away and added a bit more for his time and effort (which he didn't expect or ask for).

All I can say is, this forum still surprises me with the kindness and willingness to go the extra mile to help a fellow Fer out. For Rick to go over and above, is simply awesome, and appreciate it immensely.

Yet another example of what makes this such a great site for all things F.
Good on both of you.

That was cool. I am always looking for the elusive CB1000C engine.

It's always been a great bunch of people and helped make my business. People always ask me how I learned what I have about these bikes. I always say CB1100F.net. Most accurate DOHC CB info on the web.

Peace, Jim

Rick's always looking to help out a fellow. Here he rode 4 hours to provide supervision as I set up camp. Wink
