Hi, my name is Ian Fox, from Geelong,
Australia, and this is my 1980 900FA.
It was originally a Police bike, and because they replace the speedo, I have no
idea how many Kilometers its done. The speedo on it read 48,000 when I got the
bike in from my brother. He had pulled the motor out to do it up, then lost
interest and bought a new Fireblade. Lucky me got the CB rolling frame, and a
box of motor bits. Did the
head up with new valves etc, and stripped the frame. Replaced head bearings and
swingarm bushes, painted the frame red, then put it all back together.
I've put the twin piston brake calipers from an '82 model on the front,
retaining my original rotors. Had the seat recovered, and painted the body work
a gunmetal grey with about 10 coats of clear on top, but I couldn't justify the
AU$300 for a decal kit. Did a heap of alloy polishing too :)

I've had it on the road for just on a year now, and use it almost daily. I
bought a Silver one new in 1980, and it was the best bike I've had (should never
have traded it for that GPZ1000RX!), so I just had to take this one when it was
offered. The price was right too-free :)
Thanks for putting this site together. There's some truly remarkable bikes here.
