Information on this bike:
My name is Robert Calder, and these are some quick photo's I took with a bad quality throw-away camera.
I'll get some high quality digital camera photo's after I've done the work on my bike. I currently own a
1982 CB900F and is in bad condition, and had just way too many miles on it, we're talking like 70,000.
The engine was shot, and I was thinking of restoring it. Luckily I came across an ad in the paper for
this 1981 CB900F. I went to visit the guy and he was asking $1500 CDN, I talked him down to $900 and
shipped the bike home in my chevy pickup. Hasn't been licensed since 1995, been sitting since then. The
tires need to be replaced, brakes need to be bleeded, carb cleaning, valve clearance test, spark plugs,
etc. Normal tune-up stuff. It runs good, has trouble starting without any throttle. Some modifications I
will be doing on it are as follows. Taking the 4/2 chrome exhaust from my other 82 bike and replacing the
4/1 black exhaust on this bike. I like the chrome look and sound the dual exhaust gives. Also the chrome
engine guard bar from my 82 onto this one. The ful-fairing from my 82 needs to be painted, and I'll mount
it on this bike. I'll get a new paint job next spring.
The bike needs to be safetied, insured, and licensed. Tires will need to be replaced I'm assuming, and
even if the tires pass the safety I will want new ones anyway because I don't trust the small weather
cracks in them. Insurance will be $1000 CDN or more with liability only. Thats what I get for being 19
and owning a big bike.
Happy ridin'
Robert Calder
