Well I got it late last night so the pictures are kinda dark. The bike is very rough and has a 1986 inspection sticker on it, 20,000miles on the clock. The carbs are in pieces but everything seems to be there, no exhaust and no airbox. But everything else is there.
Ohh and the motor turns over freely. Its project time boys! |

This is going to be the first super F in my family, thats a promise. It wont even be on the road until that happens. But it needs to be taken down to the frame and totaly gone through, its got some nice rust on the frame, the fork tubes are pretty pitted so those will have to be replaced. Maybe I will just find a 900 front end and swap it. Let me know what cheap is Ray and I will take them please. I also need an exhaust if anyone has something lying around that would suit this nice Blue 1100. Thanks Ray. |

Let me get those carbs and air box to my house from the shop I no longer work at and we can discuss cheap.
I think you should follow the link in my signiture and buy a Cobra exhaust system for your Super F.
Have fun, that is what it is all about. I just got back from a ride on my red and very sweet Super F and was amazed at how nice she sounds and rides. The bike you are building will do the same to you when you are done with her. |

I dont know anything about getting them for free, but here is a picture of mine when I got it. I paid $120US which I thought was a fair price.
Here is how it looked last summer after a few more $100 dollar bills were thrown at it. Looks even better this year with the CRs and the damper and rearsets and the.......

Yeah your right Ray, I can always just borrow the 900 exhaust for a day to see what the motor sounds like and get my crap together and get that cobra (its what I really want anyway), it is going to take a while to get it road worthy anyway. How about I either call you tonight about the carbs, or just send me a P.m.?
So whats the deal with the shop you no longer work at? Unemployed for the time? Or just an old shop you used to work at?
And dont worry about the hijack motnick I dont mind... Nice bike. |

I just never thought I would get an 1100 anytime soon, and this thing just fell into my lap. I am in shock right now and want to sell everything I own and drop it all into my 1100, and then sleep on it also... because thats all I will have left.

What do you think about that Tony??? |

Thanks everyone I am very excited. I found out the motor will run, I probably shouldn't have done this but couldnt help myself. I just sprayed some carb clean in the intakes and cranked her over and poof it reved right up. Probably not the best thing to do without an exhaust, but it only ran for a split second and I am sure the valves werent harmed. So I need a nice stainless exhaust and some carbs and airbox and I will see how strong the motor is. |

Ho wmuch was your 1100F? did it run? I would like 1100F project and kinda want a feel for cost. I'm getting a different bike before my 21st b-day and a 1100 wouldn't be bad (of coarse neither would a CBR900rr, CBR600F3, or a VfR) |

So I got the carbs cleaned and installed the airbox with them, then I decided to borrow the exhaust from the 900. Well it kinda bolts on, but I guess they are slightly different. But it was good enough to start the bike to hear the motor. The starter button on the control doesnt work but if I jump the solinoid it cranks, so I guess I have a bad solinoid. The bike fired right up and runs great, it actually sounds better than the 900, less rattles and engine noise. The carbs are leaking everywhere so I need to get some rebuild kits and get them tight, but I was very shocked at how good the bike ran.
Next step will be full dissasembly, so everything can be painted, new brakes and whatever else needs to be addressed. |

Take your time and do it right, Ben. You got all winter. Not to mention your 900 to ride in the mean time. I know it's easier said than done when you're this excited, but it will be worth it in the end!
The Cobra is an outstanding pipe! I recently pulled the DB Killer that is in mine, (was a little worried about it, since I live a block from the local barricks), but holy crap does it sing now and nowhere near as loud as I expected. Just right! I wouldn't run any other pipe on my F.
Good luck and keep us posted! |

Thanks it will be lots of work this winter, it will have some CBR wheels and also a 41mm CBR front end with brakes. Right now its a few milk crates full of parts and I am working on the frame. I need some tubing to start some bracing like your doing. What size tubing are you using? |
